WANTED DESIGN NYC
Each year, UArts Product Design students exhibit select projects at Wanted Design Brooklyn, an exhibition held at Industrial City in Brooklyn, New York. I was a part of the student team that exhibit their works in Wanted Design Brooklyn 2019. The theme of our exhibition as a school was MODULARITY and CONNECTORS.
Modularity
My project for the modular theme was a concept of Dynamic Walls. We think of walls as static surfaces on which we hang things. What if the surface could change to keep objects instead of needing to add fixtures?
Dynamic Walls allow you to create surfaces as you want and change them when you want.
Connectors
The practice of making connections requires us to think through a variety of possibilities an opportunity provides and see new ways of utilizing what is available to us today in new unexpected ways. The product being developed in this exercise is an item used to generate something else. What that something else can be predefined or open to the audience utilizing it.
I was given paper cups and had to find a way to connect them in a way to make them playful and make different outcomes out of them.
