Interviews

To find more about what players do when they are alone and what are the key points and challenges for the same, I conducted a few interviews.

Repetition is key to develop your skills. If you do something for 20,000 times, only then you start getting better at it.”

“During practice or a game each individual is not guaranteed that they will receive enough touches on the ball.  Through self training players develop their own skills and can identify a weakness easier.”

“I didn’t really know whether I was doing things right when I trained by myself and how much I was improving. When I was serious about the sport, having a product which lets me analyze my training would have been really useful.”

“It’s kind of annoying to get the ball back every time I kick the ball.”

“Soccer is not entertaining, facilitating and endearing to kids is the US, specially in the Philadelphia area. If there is something which develops the interest in the game along with just training that would be really helpful.”

“Self-training important for those who seek to get better every single minute, not just the few days they go to training. Self-training can also be taking care of yourself when you're not playing, in terms of a healthy living style, with a good diet, loads of sleep, etc.”

Observations

  • 6” and 8” sizes are ideal for lower position.

  • Higher targets are still a challenge even with 10” and 12” size but are definitely hit  more often.

  • Shooting from longer distance requires bigger size.

  • The bigger sizes also help in boosting confidence.
